Sometimes it’s not enough to just soak up awesome scenery, you have to immerse yourself in it with some adventure and fun, to be able to feel a part of it.
The best way to explore the Atlantis Sand Dunes are on quad bikes and together with our sandboarding these tours are adrenaline fueled and fun filled.
Our tours, however, are also educational and we would like to introduce you to the history of the dunes, the massive underground aquifer and we would like to speak to you about the endangered species of fynbos at the nature reserve that forms part of the Cape Floristic Region.

My partner and I had so much fun on this experience and we would highly recommend anyone to go check it out. I'm definitely and adrenaline seeker, while my partner isn't as much, so this was a good middle ground. Our guide, Nigel, took us through the dunes on the quad bikes at a quick speed and up some steep slopes. I didn't think I'd have as fun much as I did, but it really was a thrill. He then took us sand boarding, which was actually really difficult (I don't have the best balance though). I did however manage to go down once without falling on my butt! I think the most difficult part of this experience was climbing that dune lol and having sand in every corner of my body, you can't escape it. Finally, I want to highlight Nigel. He's a true local to the area, to before the dunes were opened up to experiences like this. He talked to us about his life, how it was before and how it is now, how the social and political climate has affected his life. We didn't come to South Africa just to live in luxury, but to learn. He was definitely an integral part to our learning and we're grateful for his time. - Maureen
The activity was extremely worth it. I was lucky to be only myself and the guide, and the experience was even more enjoyable. We were driving through some amazing dunes. I really enjoyed it. Also the sand board, is not a compliment (there is a fee you have to pay to get access to it, same than the quad driving, on top of what you have already paid), as per the experience is 1h driving the Quad and 1hour of sand boarding. It was gear but tiring.. but also very nice. To the question of I would do it again, definitely Yes!! - Sergio
