Extended Lesotho Day Tour

An extended day tour further into the heart of Lesotho to some the countries most remote villages – a true cultural immersion.

Activity Description

Experience the magic of Lesotho in a single day with our immersive day trip, taking you beyond the iconic Sani Pass into the heart of the Mountain Kingdom. Journey through breathtaking landscapes, from the highest peaks south of Kilimanjaro to some of the most remote Basotho villages untouched by time.

We begin our adventure from Underberg, where we’ll set off at 08:00 AM, winding our way up the dramatic Sani Pass. Pause for some freshly baked bread at a local Basotho home where you’ll get an insiders view into the rich culture and traditions of the Basotho people, before continuing our ascent to Black Mountain, standing at an impressive 3,240 meters above sea level. From here, you’ll get to take in the awe-inspiring views of Thabana Ntlenyana, the second tallest peak in Africa, after Kilimanjaro.

As we descend into the Sehonghong Valley, the remote village of Mokhotlong awaits, here you’ll get to take in all the sights and sounds of this historic trading post that holds so many fascinating stories. After Mokhotlong we continue our journey to the secluded village of Makhapung, where you’ll get to meet the local traditional healer and witness an authentic ceremonial dance while enjoying a true cultural exchange with the villagers.

After our visit to the village we make our way back to Sani Top for a late lunch at either The Highest Pub in Africa or an authentic Basotho restaurant (the choice is yours) before we begin our descent back down the Sani Pass. This tour is the perfect blend of adventure, nature, culture, and history, offering an unparalleled glimpse into the lives of the Basotho people.

IMPORTANT TO NOTE

Prior reservations are essential in order to have lunch at the Highest Pub in Africa. Unfortunately due to the lodges limited capacity entry is granted only to guests that will be eating with them, this also means that the lodge is unable to accommodate guests who wish solely to have a drink, use the WIFI, or restrooms.

Alternatively we offer our guests the option of either having lunch at a lovely local Basotho restaurant, or feel free to bring along your own snacks and drinks for in the vehicle while on the tour! Of course should you prefer not to have lunch for religious or personal reasons that is absolutely fine too. Kindly select your preference when making your booking and we will make the necessary arrangements.

Please note that should you wish to have lunch at The Highest Pub in Africa, Wild 4×4 Tours will make every effort to secure reservations in advance however availability is not always guaranteed.

Important: Lunch reservations are made by Wild 4×4 Tours for our guests on request however any food or drinks ordered will be for your own account.
