What about Rabies:

There has been a few cases of rabies in the South African seal population, and even a few cases here in Plett.
Though it appears to be more prevalent in the Cape area, we hand in hand with the Department of Environmental Affairs, Tourism and Cape nature are constantly monitoring the situation.
Before each trip our guides will inform all the guest of the current situation at the colony and what to expect.
We all work together from spotters to skippers and swimmers to make sure you have a safe experience with us.
In the unlikely event of a nibble or bite our local medi-clinic is fully stocked with all the necessary vaccines.
We always have very experienced guides in the water keeping an eye out for any strange Seal behavior. The boat is always close.
If on the day you don’t feel like swimming, you don’t have to you can also enjoy the seals with a viewing experience, and stay on the boat with the skipper.
Your safety is our main concern, so feel free to join us on a amazingly exiting seal experience.

Customer Reviews

Very nice boat trip to Seal Island with snorkeling among the seals, a great experience. Our guide Ash was very nice and took great care of us, we would book here again and again. - Wolfgang

Unforgettable experience with the Seal Swimming team! Everything was great: the guide was very clear in her explanations, very reassuring as well as rigorous regarding safety concerns. The boat ride to meet the seals was great, and then the activity in itself is unforgettable! The seals are very playful, there are plenty of them and they will even come to you so you really feel like swimming with them. Would love to do it again when I'm back in Plett Bay! - Edouard

We had a great time swimming with seals. They were so friendly and fun to be around and the guides were excellent and knowledgeable but very respectful of the seals. I would highly recommend - Steve

Very unique experience! We enjoyed swimming with the seals a lot. Instructions and guiding was very good and professional. We had a great time, thank's!!! - Bahni

Swimming with the seals at Plett Seal Adventures was one of the real highlights of our fabulous holiday in South Africa. Ash and Chris were great hosts and shared their passion for the seals. An exhilarating boat ride in the rib took us to the seal colony. The wetsuits and mask/snorkel were excellent. The seals were amazingly playful and gave us the experience of a lifetime. Would highly recommend this activity - being in the water with these lovely creatures was humbling. - Clive
